down. A: ねえ、西田。  Nee,
Nishida. ‘Hey, Jun.’ B: ん?  N?  ‘Yeah?’ A: テスト勉強進んでる?  Tesuto benkyou susunderu?  ‘How’s your test preparation going?’ B: うんまあなんとか。 
Un maa nantoka.   ‘Well, not so bad.’ A: おれさあ、ぜんぜん終わってなくて。それで、お願いがあるんだけど。 
Ore saa,
zenzen owatte nakute.  Sorede, onegaiga arundakedo.  ‘Well, I haven’t gotten anything done,
and I have a favor to ask of you.’ B: なに? 
Nani?  ‘What
is it?’ A: 今週のバイト、一日だけ代わってくれないかな? 
Konshuuno baito, ichinichi dake kawatte kurenai kana?  ‘Could you cover for me at work for just
a day this week?’  B: え! E!  ‘What?’ A: 一日だけでいいんだよ。ほんと、一日だけ。
