Sample Dialogue 2

友達A: ねえ、ゆう子、明日までの学期末の英語のレポート、見てくれない？  Nee, Yuuko, ashita madeno gakkimatsuno eigono repooto, mite kurenai?  ‘Hey, Yuuko, can you take a look at my term paper in English?  It’s due tomorrow.’

友達B: ああ、英語のレポート？そっか、明日までか。私、ほら、生物のテストが明日あるから、

今日勉強しなくちゃいけないんだ。 

Aa, eigono repooto?  Sokka, ashita madeka.  Watashi, hora, seibutsuno tesutoga ashita arukara, kyou benkyou shinakucha ikenainda.  ‘Oh, your English paper?  It’s due tomorrow, isn’t it?  See, I have a biology exam tomorrow.  I have to study today.’

友達A: もうゆう子にしか頼めないの、お願い。  Mou Yuukoni shika tanomenaino, onegai.  ‘I can’t ask anyone else.  Please.’

友達B: うーん、だけど私もテスト厳しいからな。  Uun, dakedo watashimo tesuto kibishii karana.  ‘Well, but my exam is tough too.’

友達A: そっか。  Sokka.  ‘I see.’

友達B: うーん、ごめんね。  Uun, gomenne.  ‘I’m sorry.’
