Dialogue The parts in red are the compliments you’ve been asked to write down. 先生:田中君、テスト勉強進んでますか? 
Tanaka-kun, tesuto benkyou susunde masuka?  ‘Tanaka-kun,
how is your test preparation going?’ 学生:ちょっとつまずいていたんですけれど、今日の先生の講義を聞いてだいぶわかってきました。 
Chotto tsumazuite itan desu keredo,
kyouno senseino kougiwo
kite daibu wakatte kimashita. 
‘I was a bit troubled, but your lecture today cleared things up.’ 先生:そう、それはよかった。それじゃあテストに向けてがんばってね。 
Sou, sorewa
yokatta.  Sorejaa tesutoni
mukete gannbattene.  ‘Oh, that’s good.  Good luck studying for the test then.’ 学生:ありがとうございます。
