Example 4: Wall of the World by Dawn Breutzman Presentational Task Materials needed:
Description of the task: Instructions to the students:
An additional 30 minutes will be given on the third day for additions or adjustments that need to be made. Once the posters have been completed, I will provide the whole group with feedback on the interpersonal task. I will review comparing and contrasting, and use of the 1st & 3rd person singular by modeling my own poster and presentation. This will give students a chance to review the language and functions necessary for their presentations as well as being made aware of what is expected of them. Although I will provide numerous examples of similarities and differences from my own poster, students will be required to share just one piece of information from each circle. At this time, I will have students identify which comparisons they will share with the class, and will give them each a chance to practice with me. Presentations will take place in the fourth week. Each student will have
1-2 minutes to present his/her information to the class. I will score
the posters and presentations using a two-part rubric. The rubric and
non-negotiables, which will be written in the students' L1, will be handed
out and read aloud in class before work on the posters begins. Upon completion
of the presentations I will allow time for questions /comments and encourage
the students to circulate and look at each other's posters. We will then
regroup and I will give feedback to the class.
