I know how to: If not, try this:
  turn on the computer PC: look for the button on the front of the CPU
Mac: look for the button on the keyboard
 

find where to start the applications

PC: Look for the "Start" Button - bottom left
Mac:- use the Launcher ("click me twice" icon)
  find Word, Netscape and/or Internet Explorer Try this - Applications (Word) or Communications (Netscape and IE). If not these, search a little!
  have 2 windows open at the same time and move between them

Try clicking on this link and a new window will open /cobaltt

  move and resize windows To move:  "grab" (click and hold the mouse button down) the top bar of the window
To resize:  "grab" the bottom right corner of the window
  move from window to window, making different ones "active" (open in front)

PC: Use the buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Use the "minimize" button to "hide" a window - it's the outermost of the buttons in the top right corner of your window.

Mac: Click and hold on the icon at the top right of your screen. It will show all programs running.

  use keyboard shortcuts for cut-copy-paste These work on Mac or PC, in most word processors:
Cut ® Cmd-x Copy ® Cmd-c Paste ® Cmd-v
Try this: find the shortcuts for new - save - undo?? (check the pull-down menus)
  move a section of text to another place in the document or to another document Click and drag your mouse to hilite.
Click and drag on the hilited area to move it.
  save the document File - save
  save the document in another format File - save as...   
then change the "file type" or format
  insert and open a diskette/zip disk/CD Is it a zip drive or a floppy drive?   make sure!
Onscreen, double click "my computer" to find the A: drive (diskette). Which drive is the zip? CD?
  shut down the program I am using PC: Click the "X" in the top right corner of the window, or File-Exit
Mac: File-Quit. Closing the window does not shut down the program!
 

completely shut down the computer - not just "sleep"

PC:  Start - shut down
Mac: (OS 9) Special - Shut Down
         (OS X) Apple Menu - Shut Down
